According to a recent J.D. Power research, the Tesla Supercharger network continues to be the top in terms of customer satisfaction. It was the first extensive DC fast-charging network in the United States.
The Supercharger network was the only DC fast-charging network to surpass the industry average of 774 points, scoring 739 out of a potential 1,000 points. With a score of 680, Tesla Destination also won for Level 2 charging. Volta (667) and ChargePoint came in second and third, respectively (639).
According to J.D. Power, overall customer happiness with public Level 2 charging decreased from 643 in 2021 to 633 in 2022, while satisfaction with DC fast charging was almost the same. Analysts stated in a statement that this is a sign that the charging process has to be improved and that a lack of public charging is the main factor in consumers' rejection of EVs.
The study indicated that while the majority of EV owners are happy with how simple it is to use public charging stations, dependability is starting to become a problem. One in five respondents said they did not charge their car when using a charging station, and 72% said it was because the equipment was broken or unusable. This closely echoes the conclusions and findings from the same study from the previous year, as does Tesla's high satisfaction rating.
Tesla is currently working to treble the Supercharger network's size in the next two years. That will probably be required as the manufacturer works to boost sales and stay up with rivals like Electrify America.
For some time now, Tesla has made hints that it would let EVs from other brands to use its Supercharger network in exchange for an additional fee if they charge too slowly. The plan might include federal funding.
